Discord Size Guide

Discord began in 2015 as a software that let friends voice chat with each other while playing video games together.

Now, it has grown far beyond its original scope, and offers a centralized hub for text, audio, and video chat functionality for any community that wants it.

Large community Discord servers have grown around many different games, hobbies, and other topics. While video games remains the most popular topic for Discord communities, the applications are endless.

If you’re thinking about starting your own community on Discord, you’ll need some visual assets if you want your server to have more than the blank default options for profile pictures or server logos.

Luckily, we have all the templates you’ll ever need to create your own versions of these assets right in Vectornator!

Discord Profile Picture Size

Your Discord profile picture, also known as your Discord Avatar, is how the rest of the world will see you and interact with you while you’re using the platform.

Discord profile picture size

The ideal size for your discord profile picture is 128 x 128 px, but if you upload a larger one, Discord will cut it down to the proper size.

Remember - If you upload a square image, Discord will crop it to a circle, so keep that in mind when you’re choosing your image.

Discord Icon Size

If you are running your own server, Discord allows you to upload your own custom emoji icons to your server that your community members will be able to use to react to each other’s text comments.

The standard emoji size is quite small, at 32 x 32 px. But Discord allows you to upload an image up to 128 x 128 px, which it then resizes down to the standard size. Uploading a larger image is a good way to make sure that your emoji is at the highest possible quality.

We’ve got a preset template for this in Vectornator. Just be sure to upload your image with a transparent background!

Discord Server Logo Size

The last asset you’ll need to start your Discord server is a server logo! Think of it as a profile picture or avatar for your server. This circular image will appear in your community members’ sidebar, and anywhere else your server is displayed.

The best size for this logo is 512 x 512 px, which, as with the avatar image, gets cropped into a circle.
