Create multi-colored text within the same text bounding box.

New Features

  • The Multi Color Text feature

With the new Multi Color Text feature, you add different colors to different words or singular letters within the same text box, giving you more creative control and flexibility over your designs.
This feature allows applying different colors to the stroke and fill of each selected word or singular letter. You can set a different stroke width and alpha for each word or singular letter within the text bounding box.
Our feature is outstanding, as you can even set an individual alpha value and stroke width for each letter or word.

Improvements

  • Adapted shortcuts to industry standards

We have adapted our shortcuts to the general industry standard to improve our software further. You can still customize them via Mac System Preferences.

Hey there Vectornators!

With our 4.13.0 update, you can enjoy the new Background Removal Tool and several other improvements.

The Background Removal Tool creates crisp photo cut-outs in one tap.

New Features

  • Background Removal Tool

This AI-powered tool automatically defines and isolates the main object from a photo and erases the remaining parts of the image.

To use it, import an image, select it, and hit the "Remove Background" button in the Inspector.

Improvements

  • Text Tool improvements

Smart guides are now working for text and its subproperties.

Text boxes no longer clip to the edges of the text.

We expanded the ranges of the Kerning, Tracking, and Line Height text sliders.

When creating outlined text, the elements are now organized into groups in the Layers Tab.

Now, every empty text box is automatically deleted to assure faster workflow and cleaner workplaces.

Previously, the keyboard on iOS partially obscured the text. Now, the view has been adjusted to let you see the entire text.

  • Scaling behavior

The Scale Tool has been improved to work with all properties, such as Shadow, Stroke, and Blur, as well as text properties, including tracking, kerning, and line height.

To adjust the scale of an object, select it and tap the Selection Tool. The Scale Tool will appear as the last tool under the Selection group.

  • Canvas notifications

We implemented helpful in-app messages to guide you through your workflow.

You will now receive subtle in-app notifications when you enter a certain mode or state, such as Artboard creation.

We also added notifications when you enter any isolation editing mode, such as Isolated Layer or Isolated Group.

Once you leave the modes, the notifications will no longer be visible. You can also dismiss them via the close button.

We improved Vectornator's rotation functionalities for a better workflow.

New Features

Improvements

  • Node editing on multiple objects

You can now view and modify the nodes of multiple elements and compound paths simultaneously.

This allows you to save a great deal of time when creating complex designs with precision.

  • Rotation behaviors

When you select an object and rotate it, the selection box now rotates along with the object and keeps the same dimensions and aspect ratio.

The rotation handle remains next to your cursor or pen and no longer resets to the top of the object.

  • Canvas notifications

We added a context menu for warning and error notifications so that you can find more information.

  • Palm Rejection

You can now set Vectornator’s tools to only recognize input from your Apple Pencil. Just go to Settings > Input and toggle on “Draw only with pencil.”

Anything else that touches your screen—such as your hands—will not make a mark.

  • Canvas Notifications

We recently integrated warning, error, and successful action notifications that are designed to guide you through your design process.

The notifications appear at the top of your screen and disappear automatically after 2-7 seconds, but you can also swipe up to dismiss them instantly.

Improvements

  • Copy & Paste Behaviors

If the original element is unselected while duplicating, the duplicates appear in the exact same position as the original.

If you keep the object selected while duplicating it, it will inherit the values of the last transformation operation. For example, if the duplicated object was previously moved up by 10px, the duplicate will then appear 10px above it.

Artboards now have the similar copy/paste behaviors as elements, but behave slightly differently.

If the original Artboard is unselected while duplicating, the duplicate Artboards will appear in line with the previously-selected Artboard. This allows you to create organized rows or grids of artboards within your document.

When you copy Artboards and keep them selected, the copy inherits the transform value of the original.

New Features

Improvements

  • Elements can be displayed outside of the Artboard.

You can now place objects outside of an Artboard. This allows you to play around with your compositions by dragging elements in and out of your Artboard as needed.

When a document is exported, any objects outside of the artboard will not be included in the document.

Similarly, any objects with areas outside of the Artboard at the time of exporting will be clipped at the boundaries of the Artboard.

  • Move elements on your canvas using the arrow keys

You now no longer need to hold "shift" when moving elements around the canvas with the arrow keys.

Simply select your object and move it up, down, left, or right using the arrow keys.

If you hold "shift" while using an arrow key, you will now move elements by 10px at a time.

New Color-coded Bezier Nodes
New ways to create documents on Mac using Preset Templates
New Import Tab on iOS and macOS

New Features

  • New ways to create documents:

We completely redesigned the way you create new documents in Vectornator. Our new Template Picker gives you a better understanding of the dimensions of your file by showing the aspect ratio directly on the thumbnail of a template. It is now also easier to edit a template by tapping the three dots in the lower right hand corner (iOS & iPadOS) or by clicking the Show Details button (macOS).
In addition to that, you can now create your own custom document templates. Furthermore we also updated the set of device and social media templates.
Last but not least, tapping the New Document button in the gallery now shows your last 5 most recently used templates (iOS & iPadOS).

  • New Tool Behaviors and Context-Aware Options

Vectornator now features Content Aware Options based on whether you use the Pen or the Node Tool, that also allow you open and close paths. You can also finish a path while in the pen tool to draw another separate path without having to switch tools.
Alternatively, you can use a new gesture to easily end your path: Simply double-tap or double-click around the end node of your current path to finish it, or press the escape key on your keyboard. Also, when you have an open path selected and you switch from any other tool to the Pen tool, you can now continue drawing without first having to select the end node.

  • New Homescreen Sidebar

On iOS & iPadOS, our new Sidebar makes it easier to switch between your Gallery, the News section, and your Vectornator Settings. And if you want to focus more on your documents, you can simply collapse the sidebar so that your artworks have even more space to breathe.

  • New Tools menu

On macOS, we added an easy way to see all key commands for the individual tools. This also gives you the ability to customize your keyboard shortcuts via System Preferences.

  • Focus mode

On macOS, we make it easier to show off your artworks by adding the option to hide interface elements via the “View” menu. You can separately hide Layers ⌥⌘1 or the Inspector ⌥⌘1, or all interface elements at once (keyboard shortcut ⌘ + .) When hiding all interface elements, the Toolbar also disappears, plus the app remembers which parts of the interface were visible before entering focus mode and restores only these when you unhide again.

Improvements

  • Easier File Import

Explore our new file Import Area that makes it easier to understand which types of files you can import into Vectornator. Just tap on one of the options or drag and drop your documents onto the highlighted area.

  • Redesigned Selection Handles and Bézier Nodes

We rethought the way Selection Handles should work. They are now blue (on iOS & iPadOS), adapt the accent color settings (on macOS) and have more contrast against different backgrounds, plus the Selection Outline is much thinner now to not cover your stroke. When editing Bézier Nodes, you will now notice that the start node of a path bears a green color and the end node is colored red, while all the other nodes in between remain blue. This new color coding makes it way easier to understand how a path is set up and where a path opens and closes.

  • Redesigned Widget Area

On iPadOS & iOS, the Widget Area has been reshaped to a much more beautiful button layout, where the undo and redo buttons now always remain visible. We also added a menu for the scale/rotation widget

  • Reworked Library & Inspector sidebar

On macOS, the Library is now shown in a popover instead of a separate tab. Click the + icon in the top right corner to access the new library.

  • New Inspector sidebar

On macOS, the Inspector now has a proper sidebar and better integrates into the system. It no longer floats above the canvas anymore and holds all the options to arrange, group and reposition your elements at the top for easier access. Because of this change, “Zoom to fit" now properly centers your artwork on the canvas.

Fixes

We fixed an issue that caused the app to crash on iOS 15 Beta whenever a document was opened.

We also fixed an issue where creating new artboards with a trackpad or mouse attached to the iPad could cause the app to crash.

Version X1

Today we are boosting these features and providing you improvements through our latest update, X.1. In the same breath, we are preparing Vectornator to be compatible with our long-awaited Mac version.

Multiple Documents

With this update, you will be able to work on multiple documents simultaneously. Open documents side-by-side and let your creativity flow.

Artboards

When Vectornator X launched, we brought Artboards and the vision of the best UI/UX design to you. Now we are perfecting the same vision. Starting today you can focus on selected artboards. This will speed up your workflow. No need to focus on artboards yourself.

Additionally, we improved the way you can interact with Artboards. Taping anywhere on any Artboard activates them and dragging on the name shows a beautiful live preview.

1000 Paths on traced images

Autotrace is a stunning feature for which we are enormously proud. Did you imagine it can get any better? We give you 1000 reasons why it can! With new iPads (+3GB Ram) you can auto-trace up to 1000 paths.

Magic Canvas Improvements

With Magic Canvas, you can explore the full potential of your screen. We included an option to disable it for those of you who prefer having everything visible all the time. We support every step of your way.

Automatic Naming

Thanks to the power of AI, our CoreML enables the automatic naming of images. We’ve made this up to 10x faster giving your devices for time to breath resulting in significantly less lag.

We are incredibly proud of the journey we are walking together.

Are you ready for the next chapter with Vectornator Pro for macOS?

For the first time, you can also sync your documents across multiple devices automatically.

Did we mention that you can work with your iPad and Mac soon?

Yes, later this year, we will take collaboration to a new level by allowing you to work on the same document with the first real-time sync between iPad and Mac. All of this is also coming to you — this Fall.

Vectornator X is a leap in technology and design that you will love as much as we do.

Go ahead, unleash your creativity, and create the impossible.

Only in Vectornator X – the design tool of tomorrow.

Version 2.5.2 Update

The ability to create complex designs is something that we have nailed with each update. Let’s see what we can create together with a completely new Text Tool.

We added: Kerning, Leading and Tracking to the Text Tool. Mixing typefaces and pretty much everything to fulfill your typography needs.

But hey what is a great Text Tool good for when you don’t have Guides? Here we are bringing that to Vectornator too.

As always we want to add to the tip of the iceberg. The design world is always changing and we want to make it easier for you to create and manage your designs. We revamped the new document interface with many new templates.

We made our user interface smaller to give you more canvas space.

There is more to come in the future…. are you ready for the future of Vectornator?

Cheers!

Version 2.3

We’re back with the first major update in 2019! In version 2.3, we have focused on making your workflow faster and more efficient. Work with a higher precision thanks to the new magnifying glass and improved joystick to nudge paths around precisely with just a flick. The rendering engine is now also faster than ever before.

New Features:

  • Create more detailed artwork without having to zoom around. We’re bringing the loupe back.
  • Nudge paths around with the joystick right next to the magnifying glass.
  • Manually enable and disable SVG responsiveness.
  • Double-tap the last node while working with the pen tool to finish the path.
  • Import sketches from your Wacom Bamboo Slate or Folio.
